Doctor Who… sunset for Matt Smith?
Matt Smith may be leaving Doctor Who for the sunny – and far more lucrative – fields of Hollywood after the 50th special, says a source at The Sun newspaper.
In response to the claims, the BBC rather shiftily said, “Sorry folks but even we don’t know what’s going to happen at Christmas. It’s not been written yet! But Matt loves the show and is to start filming the unmissable 50th anniversary, and the new series starting on Easter Saturday.”
We asked one of our own sources close to the series what the truth of this rumour is and got back more or less the same flannel as the official statement. But when we posed the purely ‘theoretical’ question of who the who in the Who would be, say if Matt got taken out of the picture with a super-sized Hollywood offer, our source referenced Disney (Star Wars, perhaps?), and went on to say that there could be a reason why Jenna-Louise Coleman pops up across so many different time-zones with the ability to survive seemingly lethal encounters.
Hmmm. Trying to throw us off the scent, or might the assistant soon be in the market for some boy-toy candy as an assistant of her own?
