Doctor Who: Afterlife by Matt Fitton (CD review),

With the fallout, from ‘Gods And Monsters’ haunting Ace and the Doctor, it’s time to make some amends in the ‘Afterlife’. Ace is very bitter about the death of Hex and she can’t forgive the Doctor. It’s like the scales have been taken from her eyes and she’s sees the Doctor, the man with two hearts as completely heartless.

Ace forces the Doctor to arrange a wake for Hex and take his apologies as his commanding officer to his one remaining relative, his old Granny. This is never going to be an easy journey and plenty of home truths are waiting to be said.

As the Doctor tries to make amends, another friend of Hex’s, Private Sally Morgan, comes to help but while they are making small talk, Ace takes to the streets saving a woman from a brutal mugging. But just who is Mrs Finnegan?

With an intriguing premise this audio turns out to be pretty damn good and to say anymore about the plot would spoil it for the listener. It does justice to the Hex storyline and brings a new dynamic into the relationship between Ace and the Doctor. I love the interactions between the Doctor and other humans and the major plot that ties it all together. Another Ace for Big Finish.
