As one mother navigates a future demilitarised zone inside the USA in a tragic mission to recover her missing kid, new TV series DMZ jumps from the pages of the DC comicbook (created by Brian Wood and Riccardo Burchielli) into the visual world of a deadly and warped Manhattan.
HBO Max gave the series a pilot order in October 2019, with Ava DuVernay directing the pilot.
The series is set in the near future, when a Second American Civil War has transformed Manhattan Island into a demilitarised zone (DMZ), with soldiers from the United States of America and the breakaway Free States of America fighting for control.
