Dial the Gate for Amazon HQ: Jeff Bezos buys MGM! He deeply desires Stargate and James Bond (news).
Amazon has been ordered by owner Jeff Bezos to buy film studio MGM for $8.45 billion – thanks to the Fed for all that money printing flooding the market with nearly free takeover dosh.
MGM will feed Amazon Studios with content to grow the streaming beast, so we can expect lots more Bond as well as Stargate, now.
Mike Hopkins, Senior Vice President of Prime Video and Amazon Studios, boasted to SFcrowsnest, “MGM has a vast catalog with more than 4,000 films—12 Angry Men, Basic Instinct, Creed, James Bond, Legally Blonde, Moonstruck, Poltergeist, Raging Bull, Robocop, Rocky, Spaceballs, Silence of the Lambs, Stargate, Thelma & Louise, Tomb Raider, The Magnificent Seven, The Pink Panther, The Thomas Crown Affair, and many other icons — as well as 17,000 TV shows — including Fargo, The Handmaid’s Tale, and Vikings.”
These, he went on to say, will be reimagined and developed together with MGM’s talented team.
So, to cut to the chase, more Stargate? Oh yes. Probably a fire-hose of the stuff – Stargate the Cartoon Adventures, James Bond the Anime. You’re going to get it big time, now, people.
The deal still has to clear regulatory sign-off – but with Biden in the seat, as opposed to the Trumpster (who hates Jeff Bezos), that’s more or less guaranteed.
