DC Comics Extended Universe: time to kill it and restart afresh? (feature: video format)

The DC Comics Extended Universe (DECU) of films has been met with a mixed reception from audiences and critics alike. While some of the films, such as Wonder Woman and Aquaman, have been successful both commercially and critically, others, such as Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice and Suicide Squad, have been met with a more negative response. This has led some to question whether a total reboot of the DECU is necessary under the iron fist of star creator James Gunn, or if a more gradual approach should be taken?

One argument in favor of a total reboot is that it would allow the DECU to start fresh and avoid the continuity errors and inconsistencies that have plagued some of the previous films. A clean slate would also allow for new creative directions and story possibilities, potentially leading to more successful and well-received films.

On the other hand, a more gradual approach could allow for a smoother transition and maintain some of the elements that have worked in the previous films. This could include keeping certain popular characters and actors, while also making changes and improvements where necessary. A gradual approach could also allow for a more cohesive overall story arc for the DECU, as opposed to a series of disconnected films.

Ultimately, the decision on whether to pursue a total reboot or a more gradual approach will likely depend on the direction that DC Comics and the filmmakers want to take the DECU. Both options have their pros and cons, and it will be up to those involved to determine which approach is best for the future of the franchise.
