Dark City is a hidden science fiction gem that should not be missed (scifi movie retrospective).

With the release of The Matrix in 1999, the face of popular culture was irrevocably altered. However, these days, anytime The Matrix is mentioned, someone often brings up the more obscure 1998 film Dark City, which is also mentioned. Despite the fact that Dark City is a darker, weirder, and less action-packed film, its concepts concerning manufactured reality and what makes us human are interesting, and it has supplied food for thought for a devoted cult following ever since it was first released in 2008.

Rufus Sewell stars with Kiefer Sutherland, Jennifer Connelly, Richard O’Brien, and William Hurt in this flick. Sewell portrays John Murdoch, an amnesiac who becomes the target of a murder investigation. Murdoch is on the run from the police and a mystery gang known only as the “Strangers” as he strives to learn his actual identity and clear his record.
