Bill Paxton dies aged 61 – Game over, man.

Bill Paxton has very sadly passed away aged 61 (after recovering from recent surgery), we learn at SFcrowsnest.

The actor appeared in a number of classic scifi films, and was the only actor to have ever been killed on-screen by a Terminator, Predator and Alien … in The Terminator (1984), Aliens (1986) and Predator 2 (1990). He voiced the classic line, “Game Over, Man” in the Aliens film, which launched a thousand memes when the Internet came along.

He recently played Master Sergeant Farell in Tom Cruise’s time travelling scifi flick, Edge of Tomorrow, too, as well the devious Agent John Garrett in the Marvel TV series, Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Always one to keep active, Bill also played Jeff Tracy, head of the International Rescue family, in the 2004 live-action Thunderbirds movie which was directed by Jonathan Frakes.

Paxton’s family have issued a statement which reads, “A loving husband and father, Bill began his career in Hollywood working on films in the art department and went on to have an illustrious career spanning four decades as a beloved and prolific actor and filmmaker. Bill’s passion for the arts was felt by all who knew him, and his warmth and tireless energy were undeniable. We ask to please respect the family’s wish for privacy as they mourn the loss of their adored husband and father.”
