Actor Peter O’Toole dies.

Sad news drifts in that the actor Peter O’Toole has died in hospital today at 81. He was best known for non-science fiction and fantasy work such as the excellent ‘Lawrence of Arabia’ and a whole heap of 60/70s films from ‘What’s New Pussycat?’ to ‘The Lion in Winter’ and ‘Murphy’s War’.

Peter did appear in a few fantasy/horror movies and TV series, though, including playing the Emperor of Lilliput in the 1996 TV version of Gulliver’s Travels; the King of Stormhold in Neil Gaiman’s Stardust movie; Phantoms (the 1998 horror film adapted from the novel of the same name by Dean Koontz); and Zaltar in the 1984 Supergirl film (winning him the Golden Raspberry Award for Worst Actor, but that was that film all over).

Goodbye, Peter. You’re raising heck in heaven by now, we reckon.
